H.R. Nicholls Society Conference & Ray Evans Memorial Oration

Date

The H.R. Nicholls Society, with the Australian Taxpayers Alliance, invites you to attend a half-day conference on the future of Industrial Relations reform, Appetite for Change: Advancing Industrial Relations Reform for the Next Decade. The afternoon will consist of two panel discussions with speakers including Senator Eric Abetz, Minister for Employment in the Abbott Government, David Limbrick MP, Kurt Wallace, Research Fellow at the Institute of Public Affairs and Leigh Chiavaroli, who is suing the CFMEU for at least $20mil after their intervention caused his family group of companies to collapse.

With the current Morrison government showing an appetite for reform in this area, there is no better time than now to discuss the major challenges the Australian economy is facing and to outline a simple and effective plan for much needed, future reform.

This will be followed by the Ray Evans Memorial Dinner to commemorate Ray and his legacy for the 3rd Ray Evans Memorial Oration. Senator Amanda Stoker will give the oration in Melbourne on Saturday, November 9th. We will meet once again at one of Ray’s favourite Restaurants - the Red Emperor Chinese Restaurant in Southbank. The dinner will include a delicious banquet meal and a 3-hour drinks package.

The late Ray Evans, a giant of Australian politics, transformed centre-right politics with his passion and zeal. He inspired and mentored to countless individuals over the years. He helped found the HR Nicholls Society, the Bennelong Society, The Samuel Griffith Society, the Galatians Group, and the Lavoisier Group. He served as either President or Treasurer of all those groups, we cannot overstate Ray’s contribution to Australian politics. Andrew Bolt noted he was "one of the country's leading conservative intellectuals...tireless in advancing freedom and reason against all modern collectivist myths and New Age dreamings".
