The H.R. Nicholls Society Board of Directors are pleased to announce the appointment of John Gray as Executive Director of Australia’s only dedicated Industrial Relations institute. President of the board, Kyle Kutasi, said Gray is the perfect choice to lead the Society and to continue the fight for common-sense IR reform in Australia.
“We believe John is the right person to advance the objectives and long-term strategic goals of the H.R. Nicholls Society.” Kutasi said “He has a strong history of managing teams in high-pressure environments from his 7 years in the Navy and has the ability to achieve real results.”
A passionate classical liberal, Gray has the drive to advocate for Industrial Relations reform in Australia, for the ultimate benefit of the Australian people.
“Industrial Relations reform has tended to be a taboo area for successive government so I applaud the Morrison government for their commitment to reform in this area. The small business sector and entrepreneurship in Australia has continued to decline at alarming rates; there is no better time than now to focus on IR reform,” said Gray.
Gray spent 7.5 years in the Royal Australian Navy as a Maritime Warfare Officer where he served on warships, patrol boats and submarines as a navigator, as well as serving overseas in various multinational war games and exercises and as an Operations Officer in Afghanistan. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Tasmania and is currently studying a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Notre Dame (Fremantle). Gray has worked in a diverse range of industries within Australia and understands the importance of voluntary relationships between employer and employee and the need for widespread deregulation.
“The Morrison government has promised reform and the H.R. Nicholls Society intends to hold them to account for that promise. Australia needs IR reform and we need it now,” remarks Gray.
