FRANK PARRY KC

Frank Parry is a barrister at the Victorian Bar who specialises in Industrial Relations and Employment matters.  

He commenced in Industrial Relations in 1978 working for Cadbury Schweppes as an Industrial Relations Officer in Australia and the United Kingdom based at Bournville.  He commenced practising law in 1983, becoming a partner of Freehill Hollingdale & Page.

He went to the Victorian Bar in 1990 and became a QC in 2002 now KC.  In that time, he has appeared in all Courts up to the High Court. 

He has appeared and been involved in many major industrial disputes appearing for employer interests. These have included:-

  • The derecognition of the BLF in 1987;

  • For Ansett & Australian Airlines in The Pilots Dispute in 1989;

  • For the AFL in its Collective Bargaining with Players in the early 90s;

  • For the Australian Cricket Board in the negotiations with Players in the mid 90s;

  • For BHP and Rio Tinto in respect of various mining matters in Queensland and Western Australia;

  • For Patricks in the Waterfront Dispute in 1998;

  • For the Fire Brigades in their disputes with the UFU;

  • For Qantas in respect of the lockout of the workforce in 2011;

  • For the Registered Organisations Commission in respect of the “raids” on the AWU; 

  • For St Kilda Football Club in the sirengate matter before the AFL Commission in 2006.
